Carl Tisdale of Hilldrup Receives UniGroup’s Operations Excellence Award

Stafford, Va. (March 24, 2025) — Carl Tisdale of Hilldrup was recently presented with this year’s UniGroup Operations Excellence Award. UniGroup Chief Operating Officer Charles Cunningham recognized Tisdale at the organization’s national sales and operations conference held in St. Louis.   

The Operations Excellence Award acknowledges excellent individual performance in the field of operations at both their agency and within the UniGroup system. The recipient must have demonstrated a passion for exceptional performance, teamwork, professionalism, integrity, commitment and achievement for a common goal. Only one individual is chosen for the annual award from the tens of thousands of employees at the nearly 500 domestic agencies.

When asked what receiving this award meant to him, Tisdale said, “First, I would like to thank my family for always supporting me and being there every day.” 

Tisdale also thanked Hilldrup leadership, specifically Charles G. McDaniel and Charles W. McDaniel for believing in him and giving him the  opportunity to grow in this industry. Tisdale also shares the impact his father and a special co-worker have had on his life.  

My father always told me to work extremely hard, don’t expect anything—you earn everything—and always try to be fair in every way. And, Randy Rantz (former Senior Vice President of Operations has been with me longer than anyone else in my professional life. Even though he is retired now, when I get in a difficult situation, I ask myself the same question I have asked since I have been at Hilldrup: What would Randy do? I wouldn’t be here today accepting this award if I had not followed in the footsteps Randy walked every day.
