UniGroup Partners with Move For Hunger, Exceeds Donation Goals for Forces for Food at Jefferson Barracks

St. Louis, MO – [Nov 22, 2024] – UniGroup, parent company of leading brands United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit, is proud to announce through its partnership with Move For Hunger, shattered its fundraising goal be donated items to local nonprofit Forces for Food at Jefferson Barracks.   

UniGroup employees rallied to donate 12,920 items — 6,260 pounds of non-perishable food and personal hygiene products — which were then delivered to Forces for Food at Jefferson Barracks. This initiative supports local veterans and active-duty military families dealing with food insecurity.

“We’re incredibly proud of the overwhelming support received to help fill the Forces for Food shelves for their November food giveaway,” said CEO and President of UniGroup Kevin A. Krakora. “This partnership through Move For Hunger enabled us to make a real difference, and we’re grateful to our team for going above and beyond to exceed our goal.” 

Move For Hunger is a nonprofit organization mobilizing the relocation and moving industry to alleviate food insecurity across North America. By partnering with moving companies, they collect non-perishable food items from people who are relocating and deliver them to local food banks and community organizations.  

“Once again, UniGroup has raised the bar on how to organize an impactful food drive.  It’s so much fun working with their employees year after year to see the passion and creativity they bring to our fight against hunger.” said Executive Director of Move For Hunger Adam Lowy.  “This year’s food drive helped provide more than 5,200 meals for families in need – just in time for the holidays!”

Forces for Food at Jefferson Barracks is a community-driven initiative dedicated to supporting veterans and active-duty military families facing food insecurity. Established in 2007, the program provides critical resources such as non-perishable food, personal hygiene items, and other essential supplies to those who have served in the U.S. military. Operated as part of The Palozola Foundation, Forces for Food works in partnership with local organizations and volunteers to ensure that veterans and military families in the St. Louis area have access to the resources
